RVA is how Richmonders say Richmond. The nickname took off in the mid-2000s through a Venture Richmond branding effort with VCU Brandcenter students, and it stuck. Three letters, a whole city in them. If you live here, you already know.

A brainstorm at a local Richmond nonprofit in 2019. The idea was simple: find a way to show how much love this city earns every day. When the nonprofit's vision changed course, the concept was handed off to keep going. It has.

#weluvrva every day. But on May 6, we're celebrating Richmond's birthday big time. That's the day in 1782 Richmond officially became a city. Hard date, every year, weekday or weekend, no exceptions. One day a year when the whole city shows up, and we turn the love all the way up.
